Terms of Service

Last updated June 20, 2026

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of Basepoint (the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.

The service

Basepoint is an automated, read-only security scanner. It checks a public URL for common misconfigurations and exposures and reports them with plain-English guidance. It is an informational tool — not a guarantee of security and not a substitute for a professional security audit.

Accounts

You must provide accurate information and keep your account secure. You are responsible for activity under your account. You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service.

Authorized use — scan only what you own

This is the most important rule of the Service:

  • You may only scan websites and applications that you own or are explicitly authorized to test.
  • We require you to verify ownership of a domain before we scan it. You must not attempt to bypass that verification.
  • You are solely responsible for ensuring you have permission to scan a target. Scanning systems you don't control may violate their terms or the law, and you agree to indemnify us against any claim arising from your unauthorized use.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service to attack, disrupt, or gain unauthorized access to any system.
  • Resell, scrape, or abuse the Service, or circumvent rate limits or plan restrictions.
  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose.

Plans, trials, and billing

  • The free plan is available at no cost, subject to its limits.
  • Paid plans may begin with a free trial. If you don't cancel before the trial ends, the plan converts to a paid subscription billed monthly.
  • You can cancel anytime; cancellation stops future charges and takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Fees already paid are non-refundable except where required by law.

No security guarantee; disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” A clean report does not mean your app is secure — no scanner can find every issue, and your security can change with every deploy. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Basepoint will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any loss arising from a security incident, whether or not we detected or reported the underlying issue. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

Intellectual property

We own the Service and its content. You own your data and your scan results. You grant us the limited rights needed to operate the Service for you.

Termination

You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or use the Service in a way that risks harm to others.

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We'll post the new version here and update the “Last updated” date. Continued use after changes means you accept them.
